Bollywood’s well-known director Anurag Kashyap is known for his outspokenness. He articulates his opinion on any political or social issue apart from films. Anurag has also been very active on social media but has now quit Twitter.
Anurag has been in the news recently for criticizing the Indian government’s move. He was also involved in those personalities who wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing concern over the incidents of mob lynching and demanded a strict law against lynching incidents. Since then, Anurag was receiving threats in addition to criticisms on social media.
Anurag told Twitter before leaving that his family was receiving threats. He wrote in his tweet, ‘When your parents start getting calls, your daughter starts getting threatened online then you come to know that nobody wants to talk. There is no need to be logical on such an occasion. Thugs will rule and thugs will be the new way of living. Wish you all to be happy and succeed. This will be my last tweet as I am leaving Twitter. When I cannot speak my mind without fear, I will not like to speak at all. ‘
Earlier, after an online threat received by Anurag Kashyap, he lodged an FIR with the Mumbai Police. Let me tell you that recently Anurag also criticized the Government of India for withdrawing the status of special state granted to Kashmir under Article 370. Even on this matter, supporters of the government had called Anurag online very bad.
